Next Club Day

There will be no racing in December as this year it would actually fall on Xmas Day – I know many of

you would probably prefer a day of kart racing but I’m sorry you will have to wait!

Our next club day will be Sunday, 29th January 2017 – venue to be confirmed.

Our last event as you all know was our sealed event and for the first time was raced at the Oamaru

Airport on the 27th November. We had an awesome day even though the weather was a little bit

temperamental and thankfully did not interfere with any of the racing. With continuous racing and

barely a break all day many sets of tyres were chewed through reducing some fields in numbers by

the end of the day.

A great number of karts entered all grades with the Open section been split into two sections

therefore having a qualifying race to decide who battled it out on the track for the Oamaru Airport

race

Results were:

Midget: 1st Scott McLaren, 2nd Fin Rae, 3rd Ryan Gallagher

Intermediates: 1st Jordan Trumper, 2nd Flynn Coskerie, 3rd Jonty Collins

Junior: 1st Jordan Rae, 2nd Kurt Bayliss

Senior: 1st Brad Rae, 2nd Shane Coskerie, 3rd Shaun Clark

Open: 1st Simon Bradley, 2nd Andrew Green, 3rd Peter Rohtmets

Thanks to all who made the early trip south for a 7.00 am track set up which allowed for racing to

get under way slightly early as all karts were scrutineered almost as soon as they arrived. Thanks

also to the guys who made the long haul from Invercargill, Dunedin and Christchurch to support our event.

Upcoming events

26th February 2017 – SC Club Champs – venue to be confirmed

15th – 16th of April 2017 – NZ Grass Kart Champs

The race venue will be Geoffrey Finch’s property just north of Milton on the Milburn straight State

Highway 1 (the same place as last time when held at Milton)

Scrutineering – there will be three options

Friday, 14th April (evening): McClay Boats in Milton and the Mitre 10 Car Park in Mosgiel.

Saturday morning: First thing at the track.

The Prize Giving Function will be held on the Sunday evening at the Forbury Sports Bar & Function

Centre on Victoria Road in South Dunedin

As more details come to hand regarding the NZ Champs I will let you know

Paddocks

If you know of anyone who has a paddock available for the Club to race on please let one of the

Committee know as it’s greatly appreciated to have new venues to race at

Newsletters

These will be published to our website www.sckartclub.co.nz and shared on our Facebook page

South Canterbury Family Grass Kart Club. Please check out our website for news and race dates.

A big thanks to all our volunteers that help out leading up to and on our club days, your help is

greatly appreciated.

I hope you all have a very Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year
